How Reverse Osmosis works

Reverse Osmosis is a process of separating water molecules from contaminants using a semipermeable membrane. semipermeable membranes exist in many places, in nature, most importantly in the cells that make up our bodies. semipermeable membranes are critical in aiding the movement of materials into and out of our cells. Many of these processes rely on the natural phenomenon known as “osmosis”. Osmosis is a process by which a material will move through a semipermeable membrane, from the side with a lower concentration to the side of higher concentration. Separating the contaminants

Reverse Osmosis does just what the name implies. It takes the natural direction of osmotic flow, from lower concentration to higher concentration, and turns it backwards! Using water pressure, supplied by your household water supply, we can push water molecules through a semipermeable membrane, capturing the contaminants in the more concentrated side. Once the clean water is separated from the contaminants, we flush the impurities down the drain, in a more concentrated form.

This results in a drinking water almost free of anything that might be in your water. A well-functioning reverse osmosis system will remove more than 90% of the non-water molecules that are present in even the cleanest water.
